Annatar, meaning "Lord of Gifts," is an alias adopted by Sauron in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium, specifically appearing in the Second Age as detailed in *The Lord of the Rings* appendices and *The Silmarillion*.
During this time, Sauron sought to deceive the Elves, particularly those of Eregion, into crafting the Rings of Power. He disguised himself as a fair and wise emissary of the Valar, offering knowledge and assistance in enhancing their craft.
